At Ditchfield Supplies, we offer three essential types of fill material:

Hands holding rich dark compost for gardening

4-Way soil

Use: Planting, lawn, gardens

Material: Screened, nutrient-rich

Best For: Sod, flowers, vegetables

 Soil Fill

Use: Filling low spots, raising grade, levelling

Material: Unscreened, fluffy soil with clumps

Best For: Filling and levelling by hand

 Clean Fill

Machinery Required

Use: Structural backfill, foundations

Material: Unscreened excavated dirt — may contain rock or debris

Best For: Garage pads, patios, backfilling

For planting purposes, we recommend our screened topsoil blend, rich in organic matter and perfect for lawns, gardens, and landscaping beds.

Soil Fill is our homeowner-friendly fill. It has natural clumps but no clay — it's semi-fertile and lighter than clean fill, making it easy to fill and level low areas using nothing more than a shovel and wheelbarrow. Perfect for raising garden beds, topping up dips in the yard, or general levelling.

Clean Fill is a heavy, compactable material built for structural jobs — foundation backfill, garage pads, and site levelling. It's typically excavated dirt from jobsites, so it may contain rock or other debris, and we can't guarantee its exact composition.

⚠️ Please note: clean fill requires heavy equipment to place and compact properly, so we recommend it for contractors only. Homeowners filling by hand should choose Soil Fill instead.
